Mourners have begun to express their sympathies in the condolences section of RIP.ie, with one person describing the mother and daughter as "beautiful angels".

Another wrote, "Sending my most sincere and heartfelt condolences to Aisling’s family and Abbigael’s father and family in France.

"Your shock and pain is unimaginable and unreachable by any expression of sympathy no matter how heartfelt.

"The most tragic loss of a mother and young daughter. May you find comfort and strength to overcome their loss and in the knowledge that they are as one in the kingdom of heaven. They will be forever entwined in paradise."

Another person commented, "Our deepest condolences on the heartbreaking loss of Aishling and beautiful Abbigael. So many fond memories of our tea and chats while our girls played. Every text signed off with 'much love'. They will be so greatly missed.

"Our daughter so beautifully said earlier, 'It’s not sad for them, because they are happy together, it’s just sad for the people who miss them'. Our prayers are with you all in this devastating time."

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to the tragic collision to come forward, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the road between Swinford and Foxford between 5pm and 6pm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballina Garda Station at 096 20560, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
