Search continues off Waterford coast for missing kayaker

The search is continuing for a kayaker who went missing off the Co Waterford coast on Monday morning.

The kayaker, a man in his 60s, went missing off Helvick Head in Dungarvan almost 24 hours ago.

Search efforts by several units of the Irish Coast Guard, Gardai, the Irish Navy and the RNLI are under way.

Coast Guard units from Bunmahon and Admore resumed searching from 5.30am on Tuesday.

Surrounding units from Tramore, Youghal and Dunmore East have also been tasked to join the search, and rescue helicopter R117 will join the operation when wind conditions allow.

The Department of Transport said wind and low-lying mist in the area were making search conditions challenging.
