The Dublin Airport fire service were rushed to one of the departure gates at Dublin Airport earlier today, as a vehicle collided with an airplane set to travel to the US.

Just before 12:30 this afternoon, the on-site fire service were called to gate 408C at Dublin airport, as a baggage vehicle had reportedly collided with the engine of a passenger plane at the gate.

The baggage vehicle struck the engine of United Airlines aircraft N76055, a 23 year old Boeing 767.

United said in an exclusive statement that thankfully "there was no damage".

The severity of the crash was minimal, as soon after the callout, fire service engines returned to base, and the engine damage was dealt with by engineers.

Once the engineers gave the all-clear, the plane continued on its way to Washington Dulles International Airport.

The flight is expected to land only few minutes later than its expected arrival time.
