Man dies in hospital following Donegal crash that claimed teen's life

The fatal crash brings the number of deaths on Irish roads this year to 125, up six on the same time last year

A man in his twenties has died days after a horror road crash at Quigley's Point, Co Donegal, last Saturday in which a teenage boy was also killed.

The crash occurred on the R240 at Cross, Quigley's Point at around 11.15pm. Kian Dawson, a 16 year-old from Derry who was in the passenger seat of the vehicle involved, tragically died in the crash.

His cousin, Eoghan Dawson, 20, who was the driver of the car, was seriously injured in the crash. Gardaí have since confirmed he lost his fight for life this afternoon, Tuesday. 

The fatal crash brings the number of deaths on Irish roads this year to 125, up six on the same time last year. Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

In a statement, gardaí said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station at 074 9320540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station".
