The Food Safety Authority (FSAI) has issued a recall notice for batches of a popular lunchtime staple amid health fears following a packaging blunder.
The alert was issued today, Thursday, for batches of one of supermarket giant Lidl’s most popular products.
The supermarket’s Deluxe Chicken & Vegetable Soup was “mispacked into tubs labelled as Deluxe Sweet Potato & Chicken Soup”.
“Deluxe Chicken & Vegetable Soup was mispacked into tubs labelled as Deluxe Sweet Potato & Chicken Soup. Deluxe Chicken & Vegetable Soup contains cereals containing gluten (wheat and barley), which are not declared on the label.
“The affected tubs have the correct Deluxe Chicken & Vegetable Soup lid. This may make the implicated batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten (wheat and barley),” a statement from the FSAI reads.
The affected batch has a use by date of September 29 2024 and was sold in Lidl stores across Ireland.
