Tributes have been paid for an elderly man after his tragic death in a road crash near his home in co Meath.
Brendan Brennan from Spiddal in Nobber lost his life in a road traffic collision between a car and his van on Tuesday evening.
The collision, which occurred on the R162 Nobber to Kingscourt Road, left Brendan fatally injured. Both occupants of the car were also hospitalised in the incident.
Details surrounding the tragedy have left the village of Nobber in shock, with dozens of neighbours and locals leaving heartfelt tributes for the late father and grandfather.
Many described Brennan as "a true gentleman", and passed their sympathies on to Brendan's children, Bernie, Kelly and Kevin.
"Shocked to hear of Brendan's tragic passing, will be sadly missed around Nobber," one local wrote on RIP.ie.
Another described him as a "an icon", and said he will be sadly missed in area.
"An absolute gent and a very witty and knowledgeable character. Always had a kind word to say and a cheery hello. Always busy about the town. Nobber just won't be the same without him. Sincere condolences to all the Brennan family," anohter tribute read.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash on Tuesday to come forward.
“Any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling between Navan and Kingscourt on Tuesday evening between 4.30pm and 5.30pm are asked to provide it to investigating gardaí,” said a garda spokesperson.

Funeral details will be announced for Brendan Brennan at a later date.
