South East Technological University (SETU) has been hit by a cyber attack.
SETU said in a short statement on Friday that its IT systems were targeted.
The university said the cybersecurity incident was identified “at the earliest possible stage” and its IT team “moved swiftly” to safeguard its systems.
“Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that any data or information has been compromised. However, we continue to monitor the situation closely as investigations are ongoing,” it said.
“Our internal IT team is liaising with external cyber security experts to resolve the issue and minimise any potential impact.
“However, staff and students may experience some disruption as we continue to work to resolve the issue.”
It said that relevant Government departments and authorities have been notified.
SETU, Ireland’s fifth technological university, was established on May 1 2022 and has 18,500 students across four campuses in Waterford, Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow.
