RIP: Man in his 70s hit by car and killed in Meath crash as gardaí close road

A man in his 70s has died after being struck by a car in a road incident in Co Meath on Friday night.

Gardaí say they are investigating the collision that occurred at Flowerhill, Navan, Co. Meath at approximately 10.40pm on Friday.

"A car collided with a male pedestrian at Flowerhill, Navan, Co. Meath. The male pedestrian, aged in his 60s was fatally injured as a result of the collision. His body has been removed from the scene and has been taken to the Mortuary in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan where a post mortem will take place in due course," a Garda statement confirmed.

The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, was uninjured.

"The road at Flowerhill, Navan, Co. Meath is currently closed and local diversions are in place. A Garda technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will take place this morning," gardaí added.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
