A man aged in his 30s has been charged in relation to the murder of Mirjana Pap in Co Roscommon.
The body of Ms Pap, aged in her 50s, was discovered in a field at Curraghaleen on Monday December 30.
A man was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, before being charged on Friday.
He was scheduled to appear before a special sitting of Mullingar District Court on Friday evening.
A house near Athlone was searched and two cars were seized as part of the murder investigation launched by gardai on New Year’s Eve.
Gardai had previously appealed for information about the movements of a silver Peugeot 207 registered 08G on Saturday between 11am and 12pm.
They said the car is understood to have travelled from Beechville estate, Athlone, onto the N6 motorway – westbound – from junction 11 to junction 13 before continuing on the R362 from Monksland to Bealnamulla.
