RIP: Six-year search for missing man stood down as gardaí issue tragic update

A six-year search for a missing man in Roscommon has been stood down after the discovery of a body.

In an update on the missing person appeal for Tomas Martinkus, who was reported missing from his some since the week before Christmas in 2018, a Garda spokesperson said: "Following the discovery of remains, the missing person appeal in respect of Tomas Martinkus, 29 years, who was reported missing from his home in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon since 19th December, 2018, has been stood down.

"We would like to thank the public and media for their assistance," they added.

Mr Martinkus was last seen on Wednesday, December 19 2018, at approximately 5am. He was described as 5' 10" with brown hair and blue eyes.
