'Your cruelty knows no bounds' - Irish teens slammed for heartless cat prank

A pet owner in Kildare has hit out as "a bunch of heartless boys" after a group of teenagers played a cruel prank on her over her missing cat.

The owner in Newbridge posted a picture of her missing cat Bubbles on a social media appeal in the hopes of seeing him safely returned home at the weekend.

The lady then received a worrying phonecall from someone claiming to have found her cat "with his leg hanging off." She rushed to the arcade where they said they had her, only to be presented with a box containing a squeaky toy.

She said: "Shoutout to the boys currently at the Shark Arcade in Newbridge - your cruelty knows no bounds. Prank call telling me they found Bubbles injured 'with his leg hanging off him.'

"I rush to the Arcade to be met by a bunch of heartless boys, presenting me with a box with a squeaky toy inside, laughing their heads off at their joke and my heartbreak."

Other locals were left shocked by the prank. One woman said: "That is so cruel and nasty, I’m so sorry that happened to you, and I hope that you’ll be reunited with Bubbles soon."

The owner is still searching for her beloved cat and issued a heartfelt appeal on Facebook. She wrote: "Hi all, our cat Bubbles has been missing since yesterday afternoon (30.01.) - if you saw him, especially around Liffey Hall (we’re in The Park), please let me know in the comments here - thank you! The cat is sorely missed by our 4-year-old girl. Thank you!"
