BREAKING: Handguns and ammunition seized as Gardaí raid home in Meath
Firearms and a substantial amount of ammunition were seized from a house in Bettystown, County Meath during a major search operation conducted by Gardaí on Wednesday, 19 February.
The search operation was conducted under warrant as part of an ongoing investigation by the Detective Unit based in Coolock Garda Station.
Gardaí confirmed that a 9mm CZ handgun with three fully loaded magazines was recovered during the search along with an improvised handgun. They added that these items are subject to a ballistic examination.

In addition to this, gardaí discovered over 1,500 rounds of ammunition consisting of an assortment of 9mm, 0.22, 0.38, 0.45 rounds and shotgun cartridges.
A man in his 40s was arrested in connection with the seizure. He is currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in Dublin.
Gardaí have said that no further information is available at this time as investigations are ongoing.
