ALERT: Smyths Toys urgently recalls popular children's toy set due to safety hazard

Smyths Toys have recalled a popular children's magic set due to the risk of choking for younger children.

The Fantasma Magic Deluxe Top Hat 150+ Magic Tricks has been reported to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) as posing a potential safety hazard through the plush rabbit that comes with the set whose small parts may become a choking hazard.

The affected items have an item number 198567 and bar code 0816344015286. The batch codes are 2401-6009ML-BK / 2406-6009ML-BK / 2407-6009ML-BK / 2408-6009ML-BK.

The CCPC have said that there are 520 impacted products in the Republic of Ireland, which have been on sale from October 2024. This means that some of the magic sets purchased over Christmas may be affected.

The CCPC also note that any of these products sold after 17 February of this year are not affected.

Customers have been advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. The CCPC said that affected customers can return their magic set to Smyths Toys Superstores for a full refund.
