President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, ran into a surprising football legend when he was in Rome to visit the new Pope.

He bumped into former Swedish striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The big Swede enjoyed a glittering football career having played for AC Milan, Manchester United, and Paris Saint Germain to name just a few.

He presented President Higgins with an AC Milan shirt with the text 'Higgins 1', a nice gesture but I'm not sure President Higgins would make much a goalkeeper.

The meeting between the pair was posted on the President's official X account and the post has taken off and social media, with some funny comments under the post of the pair.

One user joking writes: "New role for the President in his retirement."

Another user makes reference to the resemblance the pair have to the movie Twins saying:

"GoWan the lads. Get the movie made. Twins 2."

A third user is hoping the President is on a scouting trip when talking to the now AC Milan senior advisor saying: "Hope he put in a word for Galway United to get a few AC players on loan."
