Woodbrook Station set to officially open to passengers on Sunday
Commuters and the wider travelling public will receive a major boost this weekend as the country's newest DART station will officially open to passengers following nearly two years of construction work.
Located between Shankill in south Dublin and Bray in County Wicklow, Woodbrook will be the first new DART station to open in Ireland for 15 years.
Commenting ahead of the official opening on Sunday morning, Barry Kenny, Head of Communications for Iarnród Éireann, said the new station is, “a positive delivery of public transport planning.”
Speaking on RTÉ Radio, he explained how the new housing developments in the area, Woodbrook and Shanganagh, will be “directly served" by the new DART station.
“This is an example of delivering public transport. It is there as the communities develop and grow,” he said.

The transport company says 185 new DART carriages have been ordered with Iarnród Éireann planning to order more.
Barry Kenny explained that the company is committed to investing in the DART infrastructure and plans to double the capacity in the Greater Dublin Area: “That infrastructure investment is going to allow us to expand the capacity and frequency of services overall, so it’s a continuing programme of investment.”
Reminder: The country’s newest train station, Woodbrook DART Station, is to open this Sunday 10th August.
