Gardaí hunt for creepy flasher who performed public sex act at popular Irish walking spot

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a complaint was made of a man performing a solo sex act in a public place.

Mum Karen Sugrue was out walking near the river on the Condell Road in Limerick on Monday morning when she encountered the man.

She contacted gardai and posted on her social media account, “Beware the penis flashing masturbator”, to warn others.

The sociologist, psychotherapist and lecturer in the department of Applied Social Sciences on the Moylish Campus at the Technological University of the Shannon said the day was “ruined” and it was “absolutely appalling”.

When contacted by Limerick Live, Ms Sugrue said: “It was very close to schools and there’s a lot of mums with buggies and small kids and solo runners and walkers around there.”

Following a media query, a garda spokesperson confirmed officers are investigating an alleged incident at Condell Road, Limerick, that occurred on Monday morning, March 9, 2026.

“Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.

Ms Sugrue praised gardai and urged others to take a “zero tolerance” approach to this disgusting behaviour.

“The gardai have been brilliant. I think that if we could get the message out that every single one of us will have a zero tolerance attitude now and go to the gardai every time there is any kind of dangerous or inappropriate behaviour and we will talk and share information - it will keep everyone safer,” said Ms Sugrue.
