Woman in her 60s killed in two-car crash in Co Louth

A woman in her 60s has died following a two-car crash in Co Louth, Gardai say.

An Garda Siochana said the collision happened just after 1.45pm at Bellews Bridge Road, Castletown.

The woman was the driver, and sole occupant, of one of the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a post-mortem will take place.

The driver of the other car, a woman in her 30s, is being treated at the same hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

She was also the only occupant of her car.

Forensic investigators are carrying out an examination of the scene, which remains closed.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
