Carlow Gardaí detect motorist - who also tested positive for cannabis - doing 154km/h on M9

'Never drive while under the influence of an intoxicant'

Carlow Roads Policing Unit performing speed checks on the M9 on Thursday evening stopped a vehicle for a speeding offence, when they detected the vehicle doing a speed of 154km/h.

An oral specimen from the driver also proved positive for cannabis.

The driver was arrested and conveyed to Carlow Garda Station for a blood test.

Gardaí said: "Never drive while under the influence of an intoxicant."
