Local students encouraged to take part

Gardaí are calling on Carlow national schools to raise awareness for road safety with artwork.

"We are asking all national schools to get on-board and send us images of their students and their artwork which raise awareness for road safety.

"This can be any aspect that a student believes needs to be highlighted, whether it is wearing your seatbelt, reducing your speed, wearing a hi-vis jacket when walking or cycling, not holding a mobile phone when driving,” said Assistant Commissioner David Sheehan, Roads Policing, speaking at Garda Headquarters.

Email your images to Gardaí at corporate.communications@ garda.ie no later than midday Monday, December 17. Don’t forget to include the name of your school and your class.

All images submitted will be posted to Garda social media and website by 10am on Wednesday, December 19.

A participating school will be selected at random to receive a visit from the Garda Dog Unit.
