Carlow's Fire Services have taken delivery of the first of four new Fire Service vehicles following its fit-out.

A tender for the fit-out of the first of four new Fire Service support vehicles was awarded to HPMP Engineering in Tullow during December and the van has now been delivered.

Funding of €140,000 was provided to Carlow Fire Services to replace four "aging support vehicles" throughout the county.

The van will be based at Hacketstown Fire Brigade and Training Centre.

Three Ford Ranger 4x4 vehicles are also due to come on stream shortly.
