Nominate a Carlow local hero who has 'a profound and positive impact' to win a prize-fund of €10k

A Carlow local hero could win €10,000. Alongside their Brand Ambassador Johnny Sexton, MACE have been running their Unsung Heroes Community Awards since 2020. The initiative allows the local community to nominate an "Unsung Hero" to win a prize-fund of €10,000.

Speaking on the initiative, Johnny Sexton said “I am genuinely proud to be working with MACE in promoting this positive community initiative throughout towns and villages in Ireland. The MACE Unsung Heroes campaign is a fabulous initiative as it puts the power in the hands of the general public for them to nominate someone who they believe is truly special and has had a profound and positive impact on their community. We have had some wonderful nominees and winners over the years and I’m really looking forward to hearing about the thoughtful and generous acts by people in communities all around the country.”

There are five award categories where two winners per category will receive a prize of €1,000. The five categories are as follows: Charity Award, Environment Award, Inclusion and Diversity Award, Sports, Health & Well-being Award and Youth Award.

Entry is open from Tuesday 7th November until Sunday 10th December with winners announced in January 2024.
