Post mortem completed on body of man who died in Laois incident

Gardaí are investigating the incident

Gardaí have confirmed that the post-mortem has been completed on the remains of a man who died in an incident in Wolfhill on the Laois/Carlow/Kilkenny border.

Gardaí confirmed that Dr Linda Mulligan from the Office of the State Pathologist at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise completed her work on the remains on Thursday, March 21.

The Garda investigation continues into all the circumstances of the death.

The statement did not say what caused the death. However, it is understood that a gunshot wound  inflicted with a legally held weapon caused the fatal injury.

Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in relation to their investigation of the incident to which they were called to at 3pm on Wednesday, March 20.

A media blackout was lifted later Wednesday evening.

Gardaí are now investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of the man who was aged in his 40s.

The death was preceded by a domestic issue.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) have been notified of the investigation.
