Laois man Ross Bolger has caught the attention of a lot of eyes recently both here and over in the US after a TikTok showcasing Ross' skillset went viral last week.

Ross, who has strong Carlow roots, has represented Carlow RFC and his father, Jim Bolger, is the current Carlow GAA chairman.

The Killehsin native is targeting a scholarship for an American University having been recruited and guided by Tadhg Leader. The former Connacht Rugby man set up 'Leader Kicking' which is a program helping Irish athletes to thrive in America.

Bolger's prominence rose when a TikTok of him on trial at Pace University, a Division 2 University, got over 1.5 million views.

Speaking to Morning Ireland earlier this week, Ross explained why his ability to kick with both feet made him stand out from American-born applicants.

"The video was just a video of me punting for Pace University. The coach just asked me if could I kick off my left foot as well. I'd be used to doing that in Gaelic football for years. They loved that because in general American kickers can only kick with one foot. If you can interchange between both feet though the opposition has to put two returners back so it's a huge benefit."

Ross also confirmed in the interview that it is looking very likely that he will get the scholarship and is currently weighing up his options in terms of which football program and academic course suits him best.
