Petition calling for no increase to property tax in Carlow garners over one hundred signatures

People Before Profit's Cllr Adrienne Wallace has slammed calls from the Council's chief executive to increase the Local Property Tax by 15% in Carlow.

Cllr Wallace has called the LPT "a regressive tax" and says the Council "have to stop penalising ordinary people".

She has set up a petition - which has garnered over 100 signatures - calling on people to oppose an LPT increase.

However, local representatives of Carlow County Council voted to increase the Local Property Tax in Carlow by 5% from January 1 of next year at a meeting on Monday.
