PICTURE: Council staff pick up 1.5 tonne of rubbish from about 3kms of Tullow roadway

This is shocking
Carlow County Council staff have picked 1.5 tonne worth of rubbish from about 3kms of Tullow roadway in just over three hours this week.
Council staff told Carlow Live that the pick up was from Ballymurphy, just outside Tullow.
The waste picked up consisted of bottles, bags, floor tiles, old pallets, food packaging, cardboard, paint cans, oil drums, an old car gearbox, carpets, nappies, childrens toys, females' sanitary items, a mattress, a bicycle and gardening equipment.
The rubbish was left in field gates (inside and outside), in forestry, roadside verges and drains and in a stream feeding the River Slaney (upstream of Tullow town), from Brother Leo Park (GAA ground) to the other end of that road where it meets the Carlow/Hacketstown Road.
It took staff 3.5 hours to collect and dispose of it.
