Local election candidate said he will continue to campaign on these issues

A community meeting organised in Ballinabranna by local election candidate, Daniel Pender, has found demand for a playground in the area.

The community meeting held in Ballinabranna clubhouse was well attended with locals invited to discuss what worked well in the area and what could be improved.

The overall consensus was that the lack of a playground was an issue that needed to be addressed given the number of young families in the area. Another issue that was raised was the lack of public transportation for the village.

This is an issue that Pender has been campaigning on having made representations to the transport authorities to consider expanding the recently introduced 887 service to run through Ballinabranna and Old Leighlin which were omitted from the route.

Another meeting will be called to gauge interest in setting up a playground in the area.

Pender commented:

"I will call another meeting soon for parents in the area to come together and explore viable paths for this project."

He added:

"The issue of rural public transport is particularly acute in Ballinabranna as well as Old Leighlin, there should be no isolation of people based on their location, I hope to change that and I will continue to campaign on these issues."
