Cllr Adrienne Wallace rejects the idea that the Blackstairs mountains in Carlow should be allowed to be mined for lithium in the most recent Carlow Council meeting.

When talking about the motion she said: "Lithium is not essential. It is used for vapes, nukes and toys."

Cllr John Murphy agreed saying: "This has been a lingering issue. We do not welcome the mining".

The remaining councillors were in agreement that access to the mountains and surrounding areas should be refused.
