The 22-year-old, who was most recently on loan at Serie B side Venezia, failed to impress at the Italian club - making five league appearances since his arrival last July.
The Galway man previously had a spell in the Championship last season when he joined Middlesbrough on loan in January 2022. He went on to make 19 league appearances for Boro, scoring two goals.

Connolly's last international appearance came for the under-21 side last September when he played in both of Ireland's Euro playoff encounters against Israel.
His last senior appearance for the Boys in Green came against Azerbaijan in 2021.
Hull, managed by former Seagulls defender Liam Rosenior, currently sit in 16th position on the Championship table.
