Property Tax in Carlow to see no increase in upcoming year

This was decided at the recent Carlow County Council meeting
At the most recent Carlow County Council meeting which took place on the 9th of September, members of the Carlow Council voted for the property tax in Carlow to remain at the current rate that it is already at, at 5%.
The motion was proposed by Councillor Fintan Phelan with him stating, "Property tax should remain unchanged in Carlow at 5%" and that there would be "no increase in bills."
This wasn't met without opposition, as Cllr Adrienne Wallace thought differently, as she believes " Local Property Tax should decrease by 15% due to inflation and cost of living." and asked if the Council "should reach into people's pockets or give something back."
She was backed up by Independent Ireland Councillor, John Cassin who said "it is unjust" and "nothing has come back down."
The proposed reduction proposed by Cllr Wallace and seconded by Cllr Cassin was voted against with the Carlow Town Mayor, Fintan Phelan asking, "Where does Councillor Wallace and Cassin propose that extra money come from?"
The Council then voted in favour of the original proposal to neither raise or lower the local property tax and keep it at the same rate of 5% as the year previous.
