A total of 79.8% voted Yes and turnout was 48.3%
Carlow has passed the divorce referendum to allow a lower waiting time to separate.
A total of 79.8% voted Yes in Carlow and turnout was 48.3%.
The vote will pave the way for the Government to legislate for a shorter period of separation between spouses before applying for divorce, which currently stands at four years.
The Government has said it will legislate to bring the period down to two years.
