Bagenalstown was among the towns to receive an award
Listowel in Kerry may have taken the crown of Ireland's Tidiest Town but Carlow's towns and villages put in a stellar performance across the county.
In population Category B, Clonegal won a Gold Medal Award worth €900 and the County Award for Carlow and got marks of 334 while in Category C, Leighlinbridge won the same award with marks of 331.
In Category G, Carlow Town won a silver medal award valued at €700 and received marks of 316.
Meanwhile, Bagenalstown was given an Endeavour Award valued at €500. The town got marks of 308 - which was up just over 3% on last year.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, said: "I also want to congratulate all of the other prize-winners announced today.
"The work of all those involved in the TidyTowns effort results in the attractive and welcoming towns and villages we see all over the country.
"The voluntary work that people put in to their communities brings great pride, a great sense of achievement and great camaraderie to those communities. That is why this competition has flourished for 60 years."
Minister Ring also announced a special allocation of €1.4 million to support the work of individual Tidy Towns Committees around the country in order to mark the 60th anniversary of the event.
