RIP: 'Sadly taken too soon'- Tributes made to beloved Carlow man who sadly died

A treasured Carlow man has sadly passed away recently, leaving the community shocked and heartbroken.

Michéal Ryan, from Corries, Bagenalstown in Carlow, will be forever loved and deeply missed by his heartbroken wife Aoife, daughter Saoirse; and his parents, Eileen and Paddy.

He will also be deeply missed by his brothers Peter and Jonathan, and sister Catriona, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, niece and nephew, his extended family and many friends.

His RIP.ie notice has described him as “a gentleman who was loved by so many and sadly taken too soon”.

Michael passed away on Thursday 15th October 2026, and his funeral was held over the weekend last.

Funeral Arrangements:

Reposing at his home (R21K584) on Saturday, October 17, from 3 pm to 8:30 pm.

Funeral to arrive at St Lazarian’s Church, Ballinkillen for Requiem Mass at 3 pm on Sunday, October 18th, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Tributes have poured in for Michael and his heartbroken family during this sad time. One mourner said: “Shocked and saddened to hear about the untimely passing of Michael, I had the pleasure of working with him over the last 4 years. RIP Michael. Sincere condolences to his family and friends”.

Another person said: Sincere condolences to the entire Ryan family. Micheál was a fun, strong, energetic man who did his family proud. I remember our fun times in Chicago, Carlow, Kilkenny, Sicily and Boston. A proud family and GAA man who represents what the Ryan family is. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam”.

Another person said: “Not nice news to wake up to this morning. It's shocking to think the youngest Ryan cousin is gone. He left us far too young. Aoife and Saoirse. I am sorry for the huge and sudden loss of Micheál. Thinking of uncle Paddy, Eileen, Catríona, Peter, and Jonathan and all of Micheál's other family and friends at this sad time”.
