Glasgow-born Mikey Johnston has declared for the Republic of Ireland ahead of the Boys in Greens' upcoming Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, as reported by the Independent.

Stephen Kenny had been in talks with the 23-year-old about the possible switch of international allegiance and the Celtic winger, who is currently on loan at Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes, has decided to wear the green of Ireland.

In 2017, the former Scotland under-21 player made his senior Celtic debut at the age of 18 under now Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers.

Johnston qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his grandparents and he could be available for the international window this month.

Kenny's side begin their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign against France at the Aviva Stadium on March 27.
