Tullow Credit Union strike continues this week amid union recognition dispute

Strikes at Tullow Credit Union are continuing this Thursday and Friday as trade union dispute remains unresolved
Industrial action by staff at Tullow Credit Union is continuing this week as a dispute over trade union recognition and collective bargaining remains unresolved.
Staff began a series of work stoppages last Thursday, September 3, with further strike action taking place this Thursday and Friday, September 10 and 11.
The Financial Services Union (FSU) has said that 100% of its members among staff at Tullow Credit Union voted in favour of industrial action.
The union is seeking formal recognition from the credit union and the right to represent staff collectively in negotiations concerning pay, terms and conditions of employment.
According to the FSU, Tullow Credit Union and has made repeated approaches to the board seeking recognition.
The union has claimed that the board has refused to recognise the FSU for collective bargaining purposes.
FSU official James Callaghan, previously called on the board to listen to staff and said there remains an opportunity to resolve the dispute through meaningful dialogue.
In a statement to members, Tullow Credit Union Chair Thomas Keogh confirmed that the organisation had received formal notice from the FSU of a number of work stoppages and periods of official picketing.
The notified strike periods run from 9am to 1pm on September 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18.
The board said their immediate priority is to maintain essential member services “insofar as it is safe, secure and practicable to do so”.
Members have been advised that the credit union office may remain closed until 1pm on some or all of the strike dates, with arrangements potentially varying depending on staffing, operational, security and regulatory requirements.
Tullow Credit Union said it regretted any inconvenience caused to members by the industrial action and that its immediate priority was to protect the interests of the credit union and its members while maintaining safe and secure services where possible.
Further strike action after this week is scheduled for Friday, September 11, followed by two additional days of industrial action on September 17 and 18.
