Met Éireann issue urgent weather warning with two counties to be battered with rain
Met Éireann has issued a weather warning for two counties with terrible conditions to hit at the weekend.
The Status Yellow rain warning for Cork and Kerry is valid from 24 from noon on Friday to noon on Saturday.
Met Éireann says "rain with heavy falls at times combined with already saturated ground."
Impacts include localised flooding and difficult travel conditions.
Met Éireann general forecast says Friday will be "largely dry with sunny spells in the north and east this afternoon" but adds that "rain over southwestern counties will continue to spread northeastwards to all areas this afternoon and will continue this evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with light southerly breezes."
"Rain will clear eastwards later in the night with scattered showers following into western counties. Fresh to strong southeast winds will become southwesterly and ease as rain clears. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees early tonight before gradually rising overnight to around 9 to 13 degrees."
They said: "Saturday will be breezy with bright or sunny spells and widespread showers, some heavy or prolonged with hail and with isolated thunderstorms possible. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees with fresh, gusty southwest winds."
There outlook for the weekend and into next week predicts things being "generally unsettled with rain and showers at times."
