Localised flooding and thunderstorms possible in areas of Carlow

Status Yellow Rainfall warning is in place for Carlow, Kerry, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow

According to Met Éireann, spells of heavy rain will spread eastwards accompanied by strong and gusty southeasterly winds.

Potential impacts include; localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

The weather warning is valid from 10am Wednesday 6th December to 1pm Thursday 7th December.

Wednesday morning will be mostly cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle. It will become wet and windy for the afternoon and evening with fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds. The rain will be heavy at times and may cause spot flooding. Thunderstorms are possible too.

Milder than recent days with highest afternoon temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Early Wednesday night will be wet and windy with fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds. The rain and strong winds will clear from most places overnight but will persist near the east coast.

Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

Solar UV Index: Low

Tomorrow, Thursday 7th December, will be quite windy and it will be wet during the morning and early afternoon, with spot flooding possible. The rain will be followed by clear spells and scattered showers for the late afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds.

National Outlook: Unsettled with wet and breezy weather at times. Above average temperatures.
