Met Eireann in ominous weather forecast with brutal prediction for week ahead
Met Éireann has made one big prediction for the weather over the coming week and it's not good news for sunseekers.
An "unsettled" picture has been painted with a brutal low pressure system bearing down on Ireland this week. The system will be lingering spells of rain or heavy showers to many areas.
Things aren't so bad early in the week with some sunny spells but the larger picture is poor. Met Éireann's latest outlook says it will be "dry early in the week before turning unsettled."
Their full forecast for the week says: "Monday will be a much brighter day with good spells of sunshine and plenty of dry weather. Some well scattered showers will occur, most frequent along north facing coasts. Highest temperatures ranging from 13 degrees in the north to 18 degrees in the south, in light to moderate northwest to north winds.
"Dry and clear apart from isolated showers along northern coasts [on Monday night]. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 9 degrees in a light northerly breeze.
"Overall dry but with increasing cloud and a few well scattered showers [on Tuesday]. Highest temperatures of 11 to 17 degrees in a moderate northwest breeze with best values further south. Cool overnight with clear spells."
For Wednesday, the forecast reads: "Generally dry conditions persisting but once again with increasing cloud. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees in light variable breezes. Dry and cool early in the night with rain moving in across much of the western half of the country later."
Thursday will be "cloudy or overcast with outbreaks of rain extending nationwide, turning heavy at times. Some sunshine breaking through across the southwest later. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees, coolest across the north and east. Southeast winds will be moderate, occasionally fresh southeasterly, especially up along the Irish Coast."
Beyond that, Met Éireann warns: "Low pressure will feed in widespread slow moving showers, occasionally merging to longer spells of thundery rain."
