28C heatwave weather forecast for Ireland as forecasters pinpoint arrival
Ireland could be days away from welcoming a heatwave with temperatures potentially hitting 27C, according to a number of forecasters.
Weather Alerts Ireland shared the ECMWF weather model for June 28 and it showed sweltering conditions over Ireland with highs of 27 degrees.
They said: "10 days time this is forecast on the ECMWF evening model. Very warm/hot air pushing up from Africa. High pressure will also bring dry and lots of sun next week too by the latest forecast. Still some time to change but looks hot!"
Cathal Nolan at Ireland Weather Channel has said "summer arrives next week" as he too indicated a major upsurge in temperatures. He indicated at the weekend that our weather looks like "hotting up" as we near July with the possibility of "heatwave conditions."

Meanwhile, Met Éireann has not forecast specifically ahead to June 28 but its outlook for next week reads: "Current indications suggest that it will remain settled into the early days of next week. Warm with daytime highs in the low twenties."
In its forecast for the rest of this week, Met Éireann says it will be "mostly dry with sunny spells" on Thursday, though it "will be cloudier in the west and northwest with isolated light patches of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, warmest away from Atlantic coastal counties, in a light southwest breeze."
"Rain will slowly spread from the Atlantic overnight, though parts of the east and southeast will stay dry. Mild with lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees, in light to moderate southerly winds, freshening along coasts."
For Friday, they predict "a wet and overcast day with outbreaks of rain spreading from the west through the day. The rain will clear eastwards to sunny spells and scattered showers later. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh and gusty, southerly winds.
"Rain will linger in the east for a time, with long clear spells elsewhere [on Friday night]. Lows of 9 to 12 degrees, with light to moderate westerly breezes."
"Mainly dry to begin on Saturday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells and just a few scattered light showers. Becoming mostly cloudy from the west later in the day with patchy rain and drizzle developing in Atlantic coastal counties towards evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, with light to moderate west to southwest breezes.
"After a rather cloudy, mild and perhaps damp start in some parts with patchy light rain and drizzle, it looks like it will brighten up through the day on Sunday with warm sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, in light southwest or variable breezes."
