WEATHER:  'Very cold day' Met Éireann's daily forecast as Carlow hit with Orange Warning

Highest temperatures of just 1 to 4 degrees

Met Éireann have provided their daily weather forecast for County Carlow and surrounding areas.

Another very cold day with lying snow and frost still persistent in the County as Met Éireann hit Carlow with orange weather warning as conditions are set to get even colder.

The weather is for low temperatures and ice with Met Éireann saying:

"Extremely cold with widespread severe frost, ice and lying snow.

Impacts:

• Dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot
• Travel disruption and delays
• Animal welfare issues

Valid: 20:00 Tuesday 07/01/2025 to 10:00 Wednesday 08/01/2025"

Then looking at Met Éireann for today:

"A very cold day with sunny intervals and occasional wintry showers. Frost, ice and lying snow will persist in some areas all day. Highest temperatures of just 1 to 4 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly winds."

Tonight:

"Extremely cold and tonight. Lowest temperatures of -8 to -3 degrees with a severe frost and icy stretches. Light variable breezes will allow patches of freezing fog to develop."

Tomorrow:

"A bitterly cold morning with widespread frost and ice along with patches of freezing fog, lingering in places through the day. Otherwise, it will be mostly dry with sunny periods and just the chance of the odd shower. However, it will be cloudier for a time near southern coasts with a chance of some patchy light rain. Highest temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees with mostly light northerly breezes, more moderate near southern coasts."
