Carlow is likely to see gusts of up to 100km/h with heavy rainfall on Thursday, Friday morning and again from Friday evening, according to www.carlowweather.com.

There will be gusts of up to 130km/h for some coastal areas and locally stronger on higher ground and coastline.

Weather warnings come into effect from Thursday night with Storm Callum moving through Ireland on Thursday night and Fridau.

Forecast Alan O'Reilly said heavy rain is also expected over the next 72 hours, especially in South East areas. High seas along with high tides also mean a risk of coastal flooding.

He added: "Do not park cars overnight in areas prone to coastal flooding."
