Friday is "still looking awful" in Carlow with strong winds and heavy rain arriving in the west early Friday morning and moving east across the country, according to

Gusts of up to 110km/h are possible in coastal counties and people are being advised to stay up to date with forecasts as weather warnings may be issued.

Forecaster Alan O'Reilly said: "The weekend is looking better though with mix of sunny spells and showers, light winds Saturday but stronger again Sunday."
