As the cold spell hits "the good news" is that day-length is now over 13 hours, says Carlow forecaster Alan O'Reilly.
In a post on social media, he said that while the real cold air arrives along with some wintry showers the good news is day-length has hit over 13 hours with sunrise at 7am and sunset on Tuesday at 8.03pm.
