Windchill forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings, says forecaster Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather.
He added: "It is certainly going to feel fresh, time to dig out the wooly hat and gloves.
"Still looking largely dry for most of the week but some showers will push down from the North Wednesday night into Thursday morning and could be a dusting of snow for some.
"The cold will last into the weekend and possibly into next week as a storm in the Atlantic try’s to push in but the cold could hold it back or possibly we could see a brief milder spell before turning colder again.
"A small chance of the storm meeting colder air and falling as snow but that is currently very low risk."
