WHAT'S ON: Play in Carlow Rowing Club to raise funds for the club this week

Carlow Rowing Club is set to stage a play this weekend in the rowing club as a fundraiser for the club. The play is titled 'The Girls in the Boat' and will take place on Friday the 30th of August from 8-9pm.

From the event organisers:

"Set on the fictional shores of St Brendan's Lake, Lakeside Boat Club is a vibrant rowing club at the edge of an Irish town. Four women, whose lives intertwine, face their struggles on and off the water.

The choreography for this work reflects the elegance, strength and endurance of the characters. The play gives the audience an insight into what drives the athletes and how they overcome the challenges that competitive sport and life bring.

The work asks some uncomfortable questions about winning and losing but ultimately it is a celebration of the deeper victories that sport provides alongside the incredibly focused engagement that competition demands.

Running time, approx 65 minutes

This event is a fundraiser for Carlow Rowing Club.
