Carlow put in spirited performance against Galway in Leinster Championship opener
Galway 1-24 Carlow 1-18
Galway began their defence of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship with a six point win against Carlow at Pearse Stadium on Sunday.
Carlow fought hard and stayed within touching distance of last year's All-Ireland finalists for much of the game but the Tribesman managed to pull away in the end.
The sides met in the National League earlier this year and Carlow pulled off a shock draw so the Carlovians spirited performance will not surprise anyone as they proved to be a stern test again for Galway.
