WATCH: Shocking footage emerges of petrol bomb attack on Dublin house in broad daylight

The attack, which occurred in the Sheriff Street area of Dublin 1 on Wednesday, is currently being investigated by the gardaí

Gardai are investigating an arson attack on a house in central Dublin on Wednesday, just two days after two men living there were allegedly stabbed.

The Irish Mirror reported yesterday that two men in the house, in the Sheriff Street area of Dublin 1, had been stabbed at the Punchestown music festival in Co Meath late last week. Neither man was seriously injured.

The men were reportedly recovering from the incident when a large mob attacked the house they live in on Wednesday evening.

Video circulating on social media, taken from a nearby home, showed a gang of people wearing hoodies and with their faces covered, many on bicycles, gathering outside the house.

One individual lights what appears to be a petrol bomb before throwing it at the building, as flames and smoke emerge and the mob appears to begin leaving before the clip ends.

Other footage showed a crowd outside the property and people coming and going from the house, with a smoke alarm going off in the background.

Nobody was injured in the latest incident.

The Irish Mirror reports that gardai suspect a gang of street criminals, from the south side of Dublin, are behind the attack. Investigators are currently trying to establish a motive.

Gardai said in a statement this morning: "Gardai were alerted to a fire at a property in Dublin 1 on Wednesday evening, 5th May 2024 at approximately 10.15pm.

According to a garda spokesperson, investigations are still ongoing.
