WATCH: Danny Healy-Rae told to 'f**k off' in Dáil after commenting on gender of TD's child

TD Danny Healy-Rae was branded a "disgrace" by other TDs for making the remarks during a debate on the Finance Bill.

There were harsh words exchanged in the Dáil on Tuesday, 5 November, as TD Danny Healy-Rae was told to "f**k off" by People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy over comments made about the gender of Murphy's baby.

Healy-Rae made the comments during a debate on the Finance Bill which was passed last night.

During the debate, the Kerry TD was voicing his opposition to the Universal Social Charge and carbon tax when Deputy Murphy remarked that his party also voted to abolish the USC, which led to Healy-Rae saying: "What do you know? Sure you do not know whether your own son, baby is a boy or a girl."

The People Before Profit TD responded to the comments by telling Healy-Rae to "f**k off" and calling him a "f**king asshole."

The Ceann Comhairle quickly told Healy-Rae "we're not getting into that" in an attempt to shut down the disagreement.

Other TDs called on Healy-Rae to withdraw his remark and apologise. Healy-Rae hesitantly withdrew his comment, saying: "It is the truth but if it will please you, I will withdraw it. It is for the individual itself I am concerned."
