Tributes paid to Carlow woman who was 'always a pleasure to have a chat with'
Alice Mahon (née Leech) - Pairc Mhuire, Bagenalstown, Carlow - Tuesday 11th February 2025
Tributes have been paid following the passing of Alice Mahon (née Leech) of Pairc Mhuire, Bagenalstown and formerly Kilree Street, Bagenalstown, Carlow.
Alice passed away peacefully in her sleep, lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff of the Sacred Heart Unit, Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow on Tuesday the 11th of February 2025.
Predeceased by her loving husband Michael, sister Alice (Snr), Thomas, John, Margaret and Joe (in infancy), parents Samuel and Margaret, brother Eddie, sisters Kathleen, Sheila, Mary and Teresa. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Catherine and Angela, sons Ger and John, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters Lil (Australia) and France (Scotland). Son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and friends.

"Condolences to Angela and all the Mahon family lovely childhood memories of Mrs.Mahon in the liabary she would keep the books my mam loved and we would spend ages in library chatting what a lovely lady.

Funeral arrangements
Reposing at Cushen’s Funeral Home, Kilcarrig Street, Bagenalstown (R21 V127) on Thursday, 13th February, from 4 pm until 7 pm. Removal from Cushen’s Funeral Home on Friday, 14th February, to arrive at St. Andrew’s Church, Bagenalstown, for Requiem Mass at 11 am, followed by burial in The Cemetery of the Assumption, Bagenalstown.
We would like to sincerely thank all the staff from The Sacred Heart Unit, Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow, who cared for Mam so diligently in her final year and also to thank Dr. Ronan Gallagher. We would also like to thank the staff and residents of St. Lazerian’s House, Bagenalstown, for the kindness shown to Mam during her many happy afternoons spent there.
