A Day with the Ducketts is a two day festival scheduled to take place in Duckett’s Grove Historic House and Walled Gardens on September 8 and 9.
The event aims to recreate the setting of Duckett’s Grove as it was in the early 1900’s through a series of exhibitions, tours and demonstrations.
Unused building will be reopened and used to illustrate living and working conditions of the Duckett’s and their workers.
Demonstrations will include:
Weaving; Basket making; Butter making; Blacksmith; Exhibition of artefacts and images and documents dating from the period; Steam engines, horse carts and carriages and Bee Keeping.
There will be tours of the recently renovated gardens and it is hoped to recreate a peasant cottage and stables. Musical entertainment will also be provided and period games will also keep the children entertained.
