“Losing Alfie has left such a void in our lives . He was large in every sense and we loved him so. Will always treasure the portrait by artist Tony O’Connor.”

Friends and fans left comments under the post expressing their sympathies over the loss.

Laura Fox said, “Oh Marty, so sorry for your loss,” while Lottie Ryan simply posted a crying emoji followed by a heartbreak emoji.

In a very poignant message, Irish Horse Life posted,

“They leave pawprints in our hearts. Unfortunately, they are only here for some of our life, but we get to be there for all of theirs.”
